Some of the words and phrases I already knew, while others, such as 'howzit' 'grindz'and “to da max” are self-explanatory. When I Googled Hawaiian Pidgin, I came across a website called Pidgin 101, which included a ton of phrases that were entertaining to read. The story sparked my interest since I believe that many people criticize the language because it does not sound like the standard English. You can see there are various cultures affecting Waikiki just by looking at it.

Some creoles are based on Spanish such as Chavacan Bisma Creole Example-Based On English 1. Some creoles are based on French such as Haitian Creole. Some creoles are based on English such as Jamaican Creole. Hawaii attracts tourists from all around the world for vacations, jobs, and education. The pidgin and creoles have many similarities in their vocabulary and phonology. The Pidgin language is made up of several various languages, showcasing Hawaii's diversity. I felt the author did an excellent job describing the differences between Pidgin and Creole because I had assumed they were the same language before reading the article. I chose this topic to write my reaction paper on because I think the Pidgin language is a pretty fascinating element of Hawaiian culture.
